Dear Uri,

On behalf of the management of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel and the Charitable Association of Friends of Schneider Children’s, I would like to thank you for your generous contribution of £6,500 towards children who are being treated at the medical center.

Your heartwarming gesture of support for Schneider Children’s is an expression of your concern and willingness to assist sick children in their hour of need. Through proper channeling of donations towards very specific objectives, every contribution is significant and promotes the purchase of new equipment, special projects and research. Our most urgent priorities currently include the expansion of facilities and services in three key arenas of pediatric care: the Emergency Medicine Unit (ER); the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), and a second Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Schneider Children’s is working intensively to raise the necessary funds for these units to improve services to children. Similarly, the Oncology Department with which you are familiar is also in need of reconstruction and expansion, and we are presently in the planning stages towards this important goal.

In addition to your tangible donation, I would also like to convey our deep appreciation for your taking the time to visit the medical center many occasions in the past. Your most recent visit in particular to the Oncology Department was filled with special joy and meaning for the children. I know that your personal messages of hope and encouragement made a tremendous impact upon them.

During your visit here, I spoke with Shifi about the possibility of organizing an event in London to benefit the Oncology Department. Mrs. Leifer, principal of a Jewish school in London and a good friend of Schneider Children’s, is planning to hold such an event on Sunday, May 13, 2007. We would be thrilled if you would agree to be the guest of honor upon this occasion, which will represent our first effort to reach the Jewish Community in London and indeed the UK.
